In just a couple of months, on the 24th of March, the seventh LeachLAN will be held! This popular SWLANS event, staffed partially by members of COGS, is the perfect compliment to the single-day COGS LANs, four days of gaming and social fun with your COGS buddies and other gamers from further afield! I personally recommend LeachLAN to anyone who can make it, as it is a great chance to spend some time with your COGS buddies before the Easter holidays, and is in general just a great weekend!
Event Details
LeachLAN 7 will be held in Westwoods Centre in Northleach, from 6PM on Thursday the 24th of March until 6PM on Sunday the 27th of March (the weekend before term ends) and will feature a full timetable of gaming as well as a free barbecue, several tournaments (possibly minecraft, Supreme Commander, Armagetron and Unreal Tournament 2004) and a gaming-related pub quiz in the on-site bar. Also present will be Mongle Radio, returning again to its birthplace!
Getting There
To help get yourself, your PC/Laptop and possibly a tent from Bristol to Northleach, the COGS lift sign-up system is open, so sign up if you want to be part of the COGS travel arrangements for LeachLAN7.
If you are attending and can help lift people or equipment to LeachLAN 7, please consider signing up as a lifter to help your fellow COGS and improve the LAN experience for everyone, it will be greatly appreciated!
If you wish to get to LeachLAN 7 by other means, the SWLANS website has more information about the transport links.
Accommodation
LeachLAN 7 has male and female toilets and showers as well as on-site camping and a couple of communal rooms that can be slept in at night, so a sleeping bag and perhaps tent (ask around at the next COGS LAN or social if you’re looking to find people to share with) will be all you need to house yourself for the duration of the LAN. Food is largely your own responsibility, though there is a free BBQ on one day and usually a large group curry order on another.
Discounts
For anyone who has never attended a LeachLAN before, a booking costs only £5! All you need to do is get a friend who has been before to vouch for you (with the number of COGS who attend, this will be no problem, just ask the committee or contact someone directly to arrange this.)
And if you’re not eligible for that, a discount to £35 is extended to anyone who books before midnight on the 14th of February, so book now!
Booking
LeachLAN, though popular with COGS, is run by SWLANS and is not a COGS event, so to sign up you will need to book with SWLANS on their booking page. They accept payment with BACS, NoChex (Credit/Debit Card) and Paypal.
