Games we play
COGS Plays lots and lots of games! Here are just a few:
- Monday Night Combat
- Team Fortress 2
- Supreme Commander Forged Alliance (Note: We use the beta patch 3603 available here, with Sorian AI and Sorian cheatoptions. We also sometimes use maps from the following map packs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.)
- Supreme Commander Forged Alliance (We prefer patch 3599, using the community bug fix patch v4 (mod), 3603 mod, these maps)
- Counter-Strike: Source
- CS:S mods including GunGame and Zombie Mod
- Left4Dead (Both 1 and 2)
- Unreal Tournament (Mainly 2004)
- UT2k4 mods including Carball and TAM (Add to your UT2004.ini
[FireWall]IgnoreSP2=1)
- Warcraft 3 mods: DotA, Run Kitty Slide, Tower Defence
- Source mods including Hidden: Source, Pirates Vikings and Knights II and Goldeneye: Source (These are freely available through steam once you own one of these games: TF2, CS:S, HL2 or L4D)

Regular Gaming Nights
COGS is not just about playing games. It’s about playing games with other people – and the best way to do that is to play them all at the same time. This has the advantage of filling out a server with little [COGS] tags and showing everyone how awesome we are. COGS gaming nights are fortnightly on a Thursday evening and usually start at 8pm. Naturally gaming happens outside these times, but if you want a big game with lots of COGS people, then join in! The game we play is rotated each week and includes the games in the list above, along with many more.
Regular Console Nights
We don’t just play PC games in COGS and so we run fortnightly Console Nights on Tuesday evenings. These are located in bar 100 (on the ground floor of the union building) and so there is always a plentiful supply of cheap booze to accompany the fun. We provide projectors, consoles, controllers and games so all you have to do is turn up, and best of all, they’re completely free! The console games we have are too numerous to mention, but if you’d like to play a specific game, either bring it along or just ask and we’ll see what we can do.
Servers
COGS has its very own dedicated server, currently running TF2 and UT2k4 permanently (standard ports). Its address is server.cogsbristol.co.uk. We also have another source server (port 27016) which switches between many different source games as required.
If you want to coordinate your attack, or just have a chat with COGS friends while playing, our mumble server is located at server.cogsbristol.co.uk You will need to download the free mumble client to use this.
